The Fumigation process can be broken down into 5 steps; sealing the structure, fumigation, aeration, and clearing the site.

Step # 1 - Preparation
|
- After discussing any special concerns with the ICT/Pestguard representative, the crew leader starts the paper trail by notifying the ICT/Pestguard office work is about to begin.
- Inspections are made to identify any areas of concern around the structure and on the roof
- The crew leader will inspect the interior of the structure to confirm preparations
- Introduction fans are set up inside the structure.
- Secondary locks are installed on all entrance doors and warning signs printed in English and Spanish are posted.

Step # 2 - Sealing the Structure
|
- Large tarps are carried to the roof and opened.
- Roof and down seams are sealed tightly with clips.
- Ground seal overlapped by at least 1/3.
- Warning agent introduced.

Step # 3 - Fumigation
|
- Crew leader uses Vikane calculator and cubic feet measurements to determine proper dosage and notifies the office of the necessary information.
- Fumigant is released into the structure.
- Crew member uses TIF detector to make sure there are no leaks.
- Fumigant reading are taken 1 hour after introduction of the fumigant and again on day two.

Step # 4 - Aeration
|
- Once proper ounce hours are achieved ( calculation of fumigant dosage and exposure time ), the crew can take the “tent” down and aeration can begin.
- Office is notified of active aeration start for the fumigation log.
- All operable doors and windows are opened and fans are used to speed up the aeration.
- After approximately 1 hour, windows and doors are secured.

Step # 5 - Clearing
|
- On day three, the crew leader arrives to clear the job.
- Secondary locks are removed and Vikane gas levels are tested in numerous place throughout the structure.
- A structure cannot be cleared until gas levels are less than 5 parts/million.
- Crew leader will inspect around the structure and the roof for any materials left behind or any possible damage.
- Chloropicrin notice is left in plain view for the owner.
- Warning signs are removed and clearance notices are posted on all exterior doors.
